2 tabling the 50NL games. I bought in for $25 each time. This session turned out to be a strange one. Suckouts galore and many sets over sets. The landmines were planted all around and all I had to do was dodge them. To save space I’m just going to re-cap some of the stranger hands I saw.
I almost lost my buy-in early by getting involved in a weird hand. I get AA in late position (again with those damn Aces!). I bet he raises. Naturally, I push and he calls with 55. I’m the favorite until the flop. He hits his 5, but the turn and river fills a straight on the board. We chop.
Wow. This must be my lucky day because we literally both dodged bullets that hand. This is online poker folks…I’ve learned to love the insanity.
It gets even weirder.
Another hand that I witnessed at FullTilt. I was almost a particpant in this madness.
I get A/10 diamonds in EP. I raise standard 3x BB. I get a re-raise and someone in late position goes over the top of that raise. I quickly fold. Normally, I might call with this type of hand given the odds but as I said before the night was going weird, I decided to be cautious and sit this hand out.
The flop is all diamonds. I’m cursing myself for not gambling (you know how poker players are…they’re always saying they should’ve played this hand or that hand…lol). Long story short the guy nails a straight flush to beat out a set. Funny, I went from hating myself for not gambling enough to feeling relieved that I saved myself a bad beat story.
Last but not least:
I’m about even for the night when I get this hand. QQ in the BB. I get a raise from EP shortie (he had about $10), the CO re-raises. I raise the pot to $8. EP pushes, CO off calls. I call.
The board is Q,5,A. CO bets, I call. Turn is another A. He pushes all in and I call. The river is another Ace.
The shortie had A/7 suited and collects the main pot. The CO had 55 and I collect the side pot.
That’s it I’ve seen enough online craziness for one session. I call it a night and leave with a modest profit.

Hmmm…seems a lot like my post here:

One can’t deny that hands like this look fishy. Online poker is indeed crazy, either by design or by some strange chance.
Lately I’ve been keeping my eye out for weird reports like this from live poker and I did see that last night Gavin Smith got all in one of the NL WSOP events with KK and his opponent had the other 2 kings…but beat Gavin when the board flushed and his opponent had the king of the suit.
Either way, I’m starting to wonder if I have the stomach for this game. When you lose to runner-runner aces to beat your set of queens, it must be tough not to throw your computer across the room.
Pretty lucky to have avoided that diamond hand. Too bad for the FullTilt rake, they were counting on you.

Sounds like your lucky day, wish I had some of that during my last session lol.
I hate to consider it, but I’m thinking of going back to 4 tables for awhile.

Thanks for the comment guys. I agree with you beats, playing on FullTilt can certainly drive you nuts. As for that A/10 diamond hand, it’s a no brainer fold 90% of time especially if you opening the pot with 3x BB with a re-pop and another re-pop. I was out of position and clearly behind so that was a easy fold.
My run with AA has been horrible. It seems that FullTilt is rigged for action especially when it deals someone AA. There’s just been too many weird hands when I have AA or somebody else does. I’ve cracked AA and have had my AA cracked just too many times for it to be variance. I’m playing AA very cautiously from now on. I’m still going to raise with them but post flop it’ll be a different story. Another weird thing I’ve been having my KK cracked too often also.
As for my QQ hand, yeah that was fucked but winning the side pot helped a little. So instead of grabbing a super big pot I only snagged a smallish to medium pot. Sometimes I think that Fulltilt rewards these low level donkeys just to keep them around.
That’s the thing about FullTilt…I think that they know who the small players are and want to keep them around because it keeps the games live. I also think that they probably reward them because they don’t want them to bust their BR because they won’t reload and come back.
Maybe I’m paranoid but sometimes that’s what I think is going on…lo.

PS : I’m realizing most of my comments seem to be about myself on here, sorry I guess I’m more introverted then I thought lol.

Thanks, I love reading your blog also, most poker blogs I come across are utter crap lol, I really enjoy how you describe the live games you play at AC, and your in-depth analysis of some of your online hands is a pleasure to read.

In Zeiten von massenhaft Websitenmüll im Internet eine sehr gut aufgebaute Website, nicht überdimensioniertes Design und sehr gut recher-schierte Hintergrundinformationen.
