Position is everything

I was talking to a guy who is a serious chess player. He told me that the position of your pieces is crucial between winning and losing. This got me to thinking about poker and how position is the single best weapon at the poker table.

I would bet that position is probably responsible for most of my profits. The players to my right are the ones who I make money from. It’s that simple. Maybe too simple. But it’s proven and who am I to re-invent the wheel. Playing position can help you control the pot and the betting, it enables you to get the most information you can before acting. Who wouldn’t want the last say in anything? If I had position on my girlfriend for every disagreement we had, I’d win every one of them.
